The poem I carry with me is ‘The Cow’ by Roald Dahl. My dad used to read it to me and do all the voices. And when I was a kid I thought the line ‘ “Bombs away!” she cried “Take that!” she said / And dropped a cowpat on his head ‘. was the greatest rhyming couplet ever composed.

Jimmy has worked as an English Language teacher, bailiff, journalist and grave digger.
